Established in 2018, the Kolkata Police Training Academy represents the modern evolution of the historic Police Training School (PTS), equipping law enforcement officers to meet the dynamic challenges of urban security.
A Modern Evolution in Police Training
Located at Uttar Arupara near Kamardanga railway crossing, PS Jagacha under Howrah Commissionerate, Kolkata Police Training Academy (KPTA) has been functioning since 1st December 2018. The training activities of Kolkata Police were earlier conducted at the historic Police Training School (PTS) at Dalanda House. To address the rapidly evolving challenges of modern policing, the training facilities were upgraded, expanded, and relocated to this purpose-built campus.
Spread over 25.83 acres with a capacity to train 1,250 police personnel simultaneously, the Phase-I construction project was completed by the West Bengal Housing & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (WBHIDCO), with Phase-II expanding facilities further.

KPTA offers curriculum-driven programs for recruits, veteran officers, and specialized investigative units across physical endurance, law, forensics, and modern policing.
Core Program
Basic Police Training
Residential induction course designed for newly recruited Constables of Kolkata Police and the State Excise Department. Covers constitutional law, Indian Penal Code, drill, physical conditioning, and weapon handling.
Professional
In-Service & Refresher
Specialized modules for serving officers on homicide investigation, cybercrime, financial fraud, narcotics, crimes against women, forensic evidence collection, and digital interrogation techniques.
Tactical
Tactical & Cyber Training
High-fidelity virtual simulation shooting ranges, non-lethal crowd management, unarmed combat, crisis negotiations, mobile forensics extraction, and station house management.
Campus & Training Infrastructure
Spread across 25.83 acres, KPTA combines theoretical learning complexes, high-fidelity firing simulators, shooting ranges, drill grounds, modern barracks, and specialized medical facilities.
